Todmorden Mills spring cleanup Saturday

You are not going anyway far this weekend, the DVP is closed and the subway is doing some limited upgrades.

Instead you should head over the to the Todmorden Mills and help with some cleanup. Starts at 10am April 16 until noon. Refreshments and walk the Wildflower Preserve after.

If you have never walked down to Todmorden Mills, Pottery Road sidewalk is not as steep or challenging as it looks. (at least going down it isn’t) About halfway down the hill there are steps which take you directly into the Mills area or you can continue all the way down along side Pottery Rd.

The other route is more challenging but more rewarding. In between 980 and 1000 Broadview there is a path through the woods. Just head towards the dumpster and parking garage and once you get close you will see a fairly wide solid path that leads down the hill. It’s steeper, there are broken bricks, roots, rocks; all the usual forest-path like stuff. At the bottom of the hill the path leads to the right and connects with the crushed brick trail of the Wildflower Preserve. It doesn’t matter right or left at this point, both take you to the Mills.

The Don Valley Parkway will be closed between the Gardiner Expressway and Highway 401 from 11 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday for annual spring maintenance.

Subways won’t be running on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) between St. George and Lawrence West stations on Saturday and Sunday due to signal and track work.

Also, subway service will start at noon on Sunday on Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) between St. George and Pape stations due to bridge work on the Prince Edward Viaduct.
