European streets weren’t always as nice as they are now.

Chatting with someone the other day and topic came up of European streets and how nice they were. Busy with shoppers, tourists coming from all over,  sidewalk cafes etc. When I asked if Toronto was ever going to go that way it was sad to hear this person thought that European streets were that way because they had always been that way.

Here are photos to prove that’s not the case.

European cities hit peak car and made a political decision that cars; although personally convenient, did not benefit the community as much as they took away. The outcome was to restrict and manage capacity for parking and driving.
