Broadview Tall Towers

Broadview planning study area has a number of tall towers both on the avenue itself and in the surrounding area on Cambridge and Eastmount. While the focus in the Avenue plan is mid-rise development there is the question about how Tall Towers fit into the picture? Are they a precedent for future development or are they seen as artefacts of a mistaken planning direction of a different time?

Whichever way you look at it Tall Towers are being re-looked at for re-zoning leading to a design retro-fit to bring them into current planning thinking of mixed use commercial and residential. Here’s a great article from the Atlantic’s city lab about Toronto Tower Renewal and the hows and whys.
